About JP’s Switchmania

JP’s Switchmania is a site about Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games you can hold in your hand: cartridges, boxed releases, limited prints, and the question of what is actually inside the case.

Where the site comes from

The site was started in 2018 by JP, a collector who began by interviewing developers and then spent four years cataloguing every physical Switch release week by week. Along the way a group of volunteer reviewers joined him. The result is an archive of more than 500 game reviews, around 180 weekly release round-ups, and dozens of interviews with studios and publishers.

That archive is still here. Every review keeps the name of the person who wrote it at the top of the article: Chad M., Steven Green, Allan Jenks, John B., WoodmanFLG, Akio Kahoshi and many others. The opinions and scores in those reviews are theirs.

Who runs it now

The site changed hands in late 2024. It is now maintained by a small editorial team that publishes under the Switchmania Staff byline. We keep the original archive online, and we write new coverage in the same spirit: news and practical guides for people who buy their Nintendo games on cartridges.

When the archive was moved to its current home, the old store links were removed. Most of them pointed to pre-orders that closed years ago. Release round-ups from 2019 to 2022 are kept as a historical record of what was printed, by whom and at what price, and are not a guide to what you can buy today.

How we work

  • We name our sources. When a news story rests on another outlet’s reporting or on a store listing, we say which one.
  • We separate fact from opinion. What was announced comes first. Our own view follows, and we label it as ours.
  • We tell you the format. Full cartridge, Game-Key Card or download code in a box: when we know, we say so, and when we do not know yet, we say that too.
  • We correct mistakes. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix the article.

Advertising

The site is funded by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say in what we cover or how. We do not currently use affiliate links. Details on cookies and data are in our Privacy Policy.
