This page explains what information is collected when you visit www.jpswitchmania.com, who collects it and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it short and specific to what this site actually does.
The short version
- You cannot create an account here, comments are closed, and we do not run a newsletter. We do not ask for your name or email address anywhere on the site.
- Our server and our security provider log technical data about each request, such as your IP address.
- Advertising on the site is served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies.
- Some pages embed videos or games from other websites, and those websites may set their own cookies.
Server and security logs
Like almost every website, our server records each request it receives: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. They are deleted automatically after a short period.
Traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare, which protects it against attacks and speeds up delivery. Cloudflare processes the same technical data on our behalf and may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ad performance.
- You can switch off personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings.
- Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
We do not sell personal information. Under some US state laws, allowing advertising cookies can count as “sharing” information for targeted advertising. The opt-out tools above apply in that case too.
Embedded content
Many of our reviews include YouTube videos, and one page embeds a browser game hosted on another website. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other site directly: the provider may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embed. YouTube is operated by Google and is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
Analytics
We do not currently run a separate analytics service on this site. If that changes, we will update this page before it is switched on.
If you contact us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it to reply and do not add you to any list.
Children
The site is a general-audience publication about video games and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict its processing. We hold very little: in practice, short-lived server logs and any email you have sent us. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, use Google’s own tools linked above. To make a request to us, use the Contact page.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the site changes in a way that affects your data, and we will change the date at the top when we do.
